Barney Hellenbrand has been helping people problem solve for over 40 years. He was originally licensed in 1974. Currently his licenses include Real Estate, Life, Accident and Health. He also holds Securities Series 6, 7, 63, 65, and 26 registrations.
After graduation from UCLA, Barney started in the Financial Services Industry in 1979 and by 1984 attained the rank of VP with his first company. Having built an extensive sales organization, Barney was nationally recognized and became a member of the company's first two All American teams. After a change of management and philosophy, Barney made the difficult decision to leave and join a new startup in 1989 as Senior VP and within 9 months was promoted to National Sales Director, having added over 1,500 advisors within his first 18 months.
As a founding principle of HBW in 1991, Barney is proud to offer an extraordinary company with an extraordinary staff well-equipped to problem solve for individuals, families, associates and business owners alike, well into the future.
Whether guiding associates, clients or corporations toward a more secure future, his enthusiasm and determination have been a trademark. Barney’s personal philosophy is simple; NFL Hall of Fame receiver, Raymond Berry, always played his heart out in every game in order to give the fans that bought the tickets and watched on TV their money’s worth. He realized that he was able to play the game he loved because of these people. We have taken the same approach at HBW in serving our clients. We love helping people accomplish their financial goals and strive to earn and keep the trust of our advisors and their clients, which they so truly deserve.
Barney and Bonnie support multiple charities, including missionaries overseas and locally, the Young America’s Foundation and St. Jude Children’s Hospital, a remarkable organization to which we encourage all who can to give.
** Raymond Berry
Mr. Berry enjoyed great success during his thirty-seven years in the National Football League, culminating in his acceptance into the NFL Hall of Fame.
Raymond was part of the great Baltimore Colts teams of the late 50’s and 60’s and along with Quarterback Johnny Unitas formed one of the most potent passing tandems in NFL history. As a player, he changed the game, and held the record for most receptions in an NFL playoff game for almost three decades.
He spent 18 years as an Assistant Coach and 6 years as a Head Coach, of the New England Patriots. As Head Coach of the New England Patriots, Raymond guided them to their first ever Super Bowl appearance and was voted the 1985 NFL Coach of the Year.
Mr. Berry is a founding principal of HBW, and is a Graduate of SMU with degrees in Real Estate and Insurance. Licenses include Life and Health.
** Tom Streiff
Special Consultant to the CEO
Mr. Streiff is President of TFS Resources where he uses his 30 years of experience to assist firms in adapting and thriving in today’s investment environment. Most recently Tom was a Senior Managing Director and Head of Retirement Income Products and Distribution for TIAA-CREF & Nuveen. Prior to joining TIAA, Tom spent 6 years as an Executive Vice President and Head of Retirement Solutions for PIMCO. Prior to PIMCO Tom was a Managing Director at UBS where he spent time as Head of Insurance Sector Relationships in the Investment Bank and Head of Investment Solutions at UBS Wealth Management. Tom also has significant experience in the independent broker-dealer space, having served as President of IAC Securities and First Variable Life.
Tom’s investment experience includes frequent appearances and contributions to: the U.S. Supreme Court, New York Superior Court, New Jersey State Assembly, U.S. Congress Government Accountability Office, U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and Various Regulatory Task Forces.
Tom is currently a Member of the Board of Directors of the Insured Retirement Institute (IRI). Additionally he has been a frequent speaker at industry conferences including: National Endowment for Financial Education (NEFE), American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), Insured Retirement Institute (IRI) and Retirement Income Industry Association (RIIA).
Tom has written over 100 articles for the financial trade press and been interviewed and/or quoted by: Kiplinger’s, Barron’s and the Wall Street Journal to name a few.
Tom has also co-authored 3 books: “Annuities”, “Distributions from Qualified Plans” and “Equity-Indexed Annuities”
As a Certified Financial Planner, Chartered Life Underwriter, and Chartered Financial Consultant Tom also holds the following degrees: Masters of Business Administration, Pepperdine University and a Bachelor of Science Nuclear & Mechanical Engineering (Magna Cum Laude), University of Utah.
A great family man, Tom has been married for over 35 years and has two very accomplished sons.

Joe is a long-time veteran of HBW and serves as President of HBW Advisory Services LLC.
Joe and the HBW staff have built multiple platforms to support the needs of the various business models and investment strategies advisors may choose to implement. He is a strong believer that values based life planning is just financial planning done right. The training that the firm provides its advisor is a reflection of that belief.
He also manages the El Dorado investment strategy, one of the most successful in HBW’s proprietary investment portfolios.
Joe is a graduate of UCLA. He currently holds the series 65 registration and is always reading something to improve his knowledge and skills.
He is married, has two sons and a rescue dog, Coco.
Joel Broersma, CFP
As the President of HBW Partners Tax Services LLC, Joel’s team partners with our advisors to be their professional tax preparation and planning center, as well as offering the ability for advisors to become an Enrolled Agent with the IRS and actually having their own individual tax practice. HBW Partners offers a full suite of tax preparation services, accounting, bookkeeping and representation in tax matters.
Joel attended The College for Financial Planning and is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ Professional. He is licensed in Life, Health, Property and Casualty, holds Series 6, 63 and 26 registrations, and is also a series 65 registered Investment Advisor Representative. The Enrolled Agent designation gives him the authority to prepare tax returns, offer tax planning and represent clients before the IRS.
He is married to Sue and they have two daughters and a son. One of their daughters works in the business as an integral part of the office staff.

Lisa Betances has been in the Operations and Financial Services industry since October of 1993. She set her sights on the banking industry to start her career early on in life. Then, once reaching her goal of Operations Manager and after 8 years with a local bank, she decided to explore other business options.
Lisa joined what was then HBW Insurance & Financial Services, Inc. in January 2001. She is now Senior Vice President of Administration and Controller for HBW Advisory Services LLC and the parent company, HBW Insurance and Financial Services, Inc.
As an executive, Lisa continues to play a vital role in the management and operation of all these entities, as well as managing the home office personnel. She is very focused and passionate about her work and fully understands that her position is extremely important to the advisors in the field and the HBW Home Office staff. Lisa takes great pride in her strong relationships, both personal and business.
She is also a loving Mother and Mimi to several children.
** Mike Linder
Vice President, Sales & Marketing
Mike has been with HBW since 1994 and has an extensive knowledge of the company’s history and internal operations. He is the internal liaison for carrier relationships, as well as advisor training and development. As a licensed life agent, Mike’s field experience allows him to relate to and serve our field force. He also works directly with the CEO to support recruiting and training of new advisors.
Mike is life and health licensed.
He is married to Sarah Linder, HBW’s Chief Compliance Officer, and they have 2 adorable daughters.
Chief Compliance Officer, Securities, Registered Principal
Sarah joined HBW Insurance & Financial Services, Inc. in 2004 and transitioned into the Commissions Manager/ Operations Supervisor for our broker dealer in 2006. In July 2009, she became Chief Compliance Officer. Sarah works extensively with the field to help enhance their viability and success, as well as to make sure they succeed in an ever changing regulatory environment. She constantly participates in seminars, FINRA conferences and workshops to stay on the cutting edge of regulation.
Sarah is Life, Health and Variable licensed and holds the Series 6, 63, 26, 7 & 51 registrations.
She is married to Mike Linder, HBW’s Vice President of Sales & Marketing, and they have 2 adorable daughters.
Chief Compliance Officer, Advisory, Registered Principal
As Chief Compliance Officer for HBW Advisory Services LLC, Todd Penrod is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Company’s on-going compliance program. Todd helps ensure the activities of management, its employees and investment advisor representatives remain in compliance with the rules and regulations, that company policies and procedures are being adhered to, and that behavior in the organization meets the company’s Standards of Conduct.
Todd started his career in the financial services industry in 2000 and eventually discovered his passion for compliance. In 2008 he pursued his goals and started working as a Compliance Examiner and Senior Compliance Analyst prior to joining HBW Advisory Services LLC.
He graduated California State University, Northridge with a bachelor degree in Finance and currently holds the series 7, 24, 51, 63 and 65 registrations.
Todd and his lovely wife June enjoy seeing the world through their child’s eyes.

Shannon started working with HBW in 2000 as the assistant to the CEO of the company. In 2003, she began working in the licensing division for securities and has been managing the licensing and registration for our broker dealer since 2005. She loves working with the advisors and strives to make new advisors transition into our firm as smooth as possible. As the HR Personnel Manager for our firm’s employees, Shannon is universally loved and respected by all the employees of HBW.
Shannon graduated California State University, Northridge with a bachelors degree in Psychology.
Shannon is married to Greg and they have a son and a daughter.
** Samantha Ball
Vice President, Business Development
Samantha Ball, Barney Hellenbrand’s daughter and a graduate from University of California Santa Barbara, joined HBW Partners in 2004, after other career experiences. Before joining HBW Partners, Samantha became a top sales associate at Nordstrom, a U.S. Sales Coordinator for GBMI and worked in restaurant supply sales. Early on with HBW Partners, Samantha became licensed, worked directly with clients and helped recruit new associates to the firm before transitioning into organizing and coordinating company training events across the country. From these experiences within HBW Partners, Samantha has evolved into her current role as VP Business Development. This position suits her personality and strengths, and as a wife, mother of two and daughter, Samantha is proud of the amazing platform HBW has built and continues to develop and grow. Samantha is one of the first people an interested party speaks with when considering HBW Partners and also remains a go to person for the seasoned professionals that have been with us for years.
